FocusONE was founded in 2003 due to owner, Joe Potts, growing frustration dealing with telecom vendors. As someone with a background in technology and a knack for understanding and improving business processes, he saw an opportunity to help other business owners in the rapidly changing area of telecom. The structure of FocusONE was established to accomplish the following:

- Act as auditors for all monthly invoices and advocates for billing accuracy and service-support
